Onsite AV Consultation at Cypress Baptist Church | Media Ministry Upgrade
Bringing Modern AV Solutions to Cypress Baptist Church
Hey folks, AJaytheCEO here! I recently had the opportunity to travel down near my family’s hometown to visit Cypress Baptist Church for a full onsite AV consultation. This project came through a recommendation from Elder Rob—shoutout to him! Cypress is a family-connected ministry, and I was honored to help them plan a full overhaul of their media ministry setup.
The Walkthrough: Planning the Upgrade
We started with a full walkthrough of the sanctuary. The church is renovating the flooring, so it’s the perfect time to restructure their media layout. My recommendation? Cut two pews to build out a new media platform and relocate the entire media setup to the back.
Here’s what we’re planning:
- Three PTZ Cameras: 20x optical zoom—front, side, and rear.
- Custom Presentation PC built specifically for their livestream and presentation needs.
- ATEM Mini Extreme Video Switcher—possibly upgrading to the SDI version for longer runs.
- Behringer X32 Compact Mixer & S32 Stage Box with all audio routed via EtherCon.
- 85" TV for the pulpit and choir, plus two 75" TVs for the congregation.
- Two PoE switches—one in the front, one in the new media booth.
- SDI converters to repurpose existing coax cable and connect the Fellowship Hall.
The Crawlspace Hustle
One of the biggest challenges will be running all the necessary cables—either through the attic or the crawl space. I’m leaning toward using PVC conduit in the crawl space for a cleaner and more manageable install.
Design & Strategy Session
After the site visit, I headed back to the lab (aka my computer) to map out the full system. I created a detailed visual design, noted all the parts we’ll need, and configured a setup that maximizes functionality while staying budget-conscious. I even removed fiber HDMI and upgraded everything to SDI to simplify long runs and reduce the number of splitters needed.
Next Steps
If everything checks out and we get the contract, you better believe I’ll be bringing you along for the full install and training. It looks like a three-day job, with one full day dedicated to just cable routing.
